Art Therapy & Counseling

MA, LPC

my approach

Growth and healing is fostered when we feel accepted and heard. I show up for my clients with an inclusive, culturally responsive, and nonjudgmental approach to sessions. I meet you with a supportive and open attitude as you explore your most authentic self and grow to your potential. We can get there by learning and then practicing new coping techniques that can improve your quality of life while working to understand the patterns that may have led you to seek support. Together we can develop a new path with less suffering and a better understanding of yourself and your limits.

As an LPC and licensed art therapist, I understand that sometimes words are tough to find. Trauma and feelings in general can be difficult to talk about for a number of reasons. Sometimes we just simply haven’t had practice or had examples of how to do so. Art therapy can come in very handy when needing alternative methods of expression. You don’t have to have a creative bone in your body to glean the benefits of including art and other expressive art forms into our work together. While it’s not for everyone and you can always decline including it into our sessions, giving it a try or open to learning more about it may lead to a new level of insight and understand.

I practice with a trauma informed, strengths based perspective while including modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I include elements of other approaches when appropriate such as Motivational Interviewing, Sand Tray Therapy, Mindfulness Practices, and Gestalt Theoretical approach.
